The Story Behind
Angry Crab Shack
California native Ron Lou spent four years in the National Football League playing center for the Houston Oilers and then the Philadelphia Eagles. After retiring from professional football, he dedicated the next 35 years to creating five different restaurant concepts, including a breakfast eatery, a sports bar, and three distinct Chinese restaurants.
In pursuit of another success, Lou set out to create something unique – not just another wing, burger, or pizza place. In 2013, his vision came to life with the opening of Angry Crab Shack. Combining bold Asian flavors with his seafood expertise, Ron introduced seafood boil to Mesa, Arizona, through Angry Crab Shack – a family-friendly neighborhood restaurant known for its vibrant atmosphere and high-quality, affordable seafood.
Thanks to a partnership with the Angry Crab Shack UK Team, our signature Asian-Cajun flavours and seafood boils have arrived in one of the world’s top culinary cities. We love groups, both big and small, and celebrations of every kind. Guests come ready to bib up and dig into some good eating. Our Angry Crab family extends to our guests but starts with our employees. Our crabbin’ culture is all about a fun family environment. We like to get messy and have a great time. We created this concept with the intent to grow our family, give opportunities to emerging entrepreneurs, and bring good cooking wherever we expand.

“So happy that we were able to try this restaurant out. Made a reservation online, went here on a weekday during lunch time. Service was great and fast. We loved everything that we ordered especially the oyster with cheese. Definitely will be coming back as we only tried the peeled shrimp, clam, lobster and oyster.”
